I’m Elspeth Lewis, Mindfulness and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Training) coach, founder of Pause to Be, author of Smooth Sailing with Your Teen, and co-author of Mindfulness for Challenging Times; and Mindfulness for Transformation. I’m passionate about sharing stress reduction techniques with others, through guided meditation and mindfulness courses.
I trained to teach mindfulness with Shamash Alidina, leading mindfulness and kindfulness teacher, co-founder of The Museum of Happiness in London, and mindfulness author. Shamash trained with Jon Kabat-Zinn, one of the masters of mindfulness and founder of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme.
More recently, in 2020, I trained to share ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Training) which is a mindfulness-based training, aimed at increasing our psychological flexibility in order to boost resilience and mental wellbeing. In 2021, I undertook further training in ACT for Adolescents with Dr Russ Harris; and also in DNA-v: The Youth Model of Acceptance, Mindfulness, and Positive Psychology, with Dr Louise Hayes and Dr Joseph Ciarrochi.
I am a certified and insured Mindfulness and Acceptance Coach, accredited by the Complementary Medical Association. I have a daily formal mindfulness practice and I am committed to living mindfully. I attend mindfulness retreats and have ongoing contact with other mindfulness teachers. I also have PVG scheme membership.
My most treasured award, however, has got to be my Brownie Mindfulness Badge, which was presented to me by a local Brownie Guide Unit, when I supported them towards achieving their mindfulness badges!
