what will your private sound bath session involve?

How might a sound bath help me?

A sound bath can help to restore the natural balance in your body, by activating your body’s own natural self-healing process.

The vibrations of sound played at certain frequencies can help to entrain your brainwave frequency to a lower level, which can reduce stress and anxiety, improve concentration and focus, support the immune system, lower blood pressure and boost circulation, and improve your sleep at night.

Vibrational sound has also been shown to support the body’s natural healing process at a cellular level by restoring the natural frequency of organs and tissues. Your body is 60-70% water, so the vibrations travel around the body easily, giving the cells a gentle massage.

When the cells in the body are restored to their natural frequency once again, you may begin to observe more balance in your physical and mental wellbeing.

What will the session involve?

We’ll begin with a brief chat and introduction to the session. If you’ve never experienced therapeutic sound before, I can let you hear some of the instruments before we begin.

I’ll guide you into the sound session with a meditation, breathing and intention setting, before journeying through soothing sounds.

You may choose to rest in a zero-gravity recliner chair or on a comfortable yoga futon mattress. You are encouraged to experience the session in the most comfortable position for you.

If you feel uncomfortable with any of the sounds at any point during the session, you can let me know with a little wave. Your comfort is key.

At the end there will be about 10 minutes of silence to allow your body to settle, before gradually coming back up to sitting, having a stretch out, a drink of water and some dark chocolate if you wish (this can help you to feel more grounded again). There is time for a chat about your experience if you wish.

Is a sound bath suitable for everyone?

In these private sound bath sessions the therapeutic sound instruments are played in the studio space and not directly on your body. (This is different from 1:1 sound therapy where the instruments may be placed directly on the physical body).

This makes the session a safe way for most people to experience therapeutic sound, however it is not suitable for anyone in their first trimester of pregnancy, or those with sound induced epilepsy, unmanaged bipolar or psychosis.

Please advise me if you have any of the following: stent, shunt, pacemaker, metal implant or nerve damage, so that I can ensure you aren’t too close to the sound. If you have had surgery recently, please ensure that you leave 6 weeks following surgery and that all wounds are fully healed before participating.

Participants should not attend if they are under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs.

If you have any current physical or mental health concerns, please let me know in advance so that I can tailor your session appropriately. If you have any other questions, please just ask!

What is the minimum age to attend a session?

These sessions are suitable for age 14+. Under-18’s must be accompanied by an adult (18+) and booked as a group of two (or three if additional child or adult).

Please let me know in advance of any physical or mental health concerns, so that I can prepare your session accordingly (some higher-pitched frequencies tend to be unsuitable for certain conditions such as ADHD).

What should I wear?

Loose, comfortable clothing or loungewear is ideal for this session. Blankets are provided to keep you warm and cosy.

Where are you located?

The Sunflower Studio is situated in the garden of a private residence in Corstorphine, Edinburgh, EH12, near Corstorphine Hill and Edinburgh Zoo. The exact address details will be issued when booking and payment are received.

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes there is free on-street parking available. Please respect our neighbours

Is the venue accessible?

Unfortunately as we’re situated on a steep hill in Corstorphine, Edinburgh, there are about five shallow steps on the pathway up to the studio. There is also a small step up to the studio itself.

I offer group sessions in two fully accessible venues in Edinburgh if you would rather attend one of these sessions. I also facilitate sessions for private groups if you would like to discuss that option instead.

What is your refund/cancellation policy?

Your session is non-refundable but may be transferred to another available slot with a minimum of 48 hours notice. This enables me to offer your appointment to another person in the event that you are no longer able to attend.
